About the Director

“Music is not a talent. It is a language — and every child deserves to speak it fluently.”
IJ Nordic Music Studio is led by a classically trained cellist with over two decades of world-class musical training, beginning at Korea's most prestigious arts institutions and continuing through Berlin and Stockholm.
Awarded a full scholarship from the Swedish Royal music institution, she went on to perform with the Royal Opera — bringing to the studio a rare depth of artistry that informs every lesson she gives.
Today, her mission is to offer children not merely music lessons, but a transformative education in listening, expression, and creative confidence — rooted in the calm, purposeful Nordic approach to learning.

Educational Philosophy
At IJ Nordic Music Studio, we hold music education to the highest standard — not as rote training, but as a profound, life-enriching practice that shapes how children think, feel, and relate to the world around them.
01
Before a child ever holds an instrument, we cultivate deep, active listening. The ear is the most important musical tool — and training it is the foundation of all great musicianship.
02
We believe music education develops far more than musical skill. It builds emotional intelligence, concentration, self-discipline, and the confidence to express oneself with authenticity.
03
Inspired by the Scandinavian approach to childhood development, we resist rushing milestones. Deep, joyful understanding is always prioritised over speed or performance pressure.
04
Rooted in the European classical tradition — Bach, Vivaldi, Bartók — yet alive to the child's world. We connect great music to emotion, story, and personal discovery.
“The goal is not to produce performers. The goal is to raise children who are deeply alive — who listen with their whole selves, and who have found their unique voice.”
Programs
Each program is carefully designed for the developmental stage of the child — never rushed, always meaningful.
Musical Awakening
A gentle introduction to the world of sound, rhythm, and melody. Through guided listening, movement, and play, children develop their musical ear and a joyful relationship with music before formal study begins.
Beginning Instrument Study
Individual lessons introducing the cello, violin, or piano with deep attention to technique, posture, and musical expression. Children build real skills at their own natural pace, with consistent encouragement.
Developing Musicianship
For students who are ready to go deeper — advancing technique, exploring interpretation, and beginning to develop a genuine artistic voice. A rigorous yet nurturing path toward true musical fluency.
Special Programme
A dedicated cello programme conducted entirely in English — for students at international schools, bilingual families, or those preparing for conservatory auditions abroad. The same rigorous training, in the language they feel most at home with.

New Program
The joy of playing together — from chamber music to full orchestra, the next step is coming.
All programs are offered as private, one-to-one lessons for maximum individual attention and personalised progression. Schedule and frequency are arranged in consultation with each family.
Book a ConsultationWhy Early?
The early years are not simply a convenient time to begin music — they are the most critical window in a child's cognitive and emotional development. Classical music education, begun early, has profound and lasting effects.

is the critical window for deepest musical and cognitive benefit
Research consistently shows that musical training in early childhood accelerates the development of neural pathways linked to language, mathematics, and memory.
Classical music education uniquely develops a child’s capacity to recognise, process, and express complex emotions — a lifelong gift.
Learning an instrument demands sustained attention, patience, and self-regulation — skills that transfer powerfully to academic and social settings.
Mastering music gives children a deep sense of accomplishment and expressive identity. They learn that effort and growth are deeply satisfying.
The trained musical ear becomes a tool for empathy — children learn to hear nuance, respond to subtlety, and attend carefully to others.
Improvisation, interpretation, and expression train flexible, creative minds. Musical children grow into inventive, curious thinkers.
“The best time to begin a child’s musical education is now. The second best time — is also now.”

The Nordic Approach
IJ Nordic Music Studio is a carefully cultivated environment — every element of how we teach has been deliberately chosen to serve the long-term flourishing of each child.
Inspired by Scandinavian principles of unhurried, child-centred learning — we follow the child's natural curiosity rather than imposing a rigid timeline.
Every lesson is a private, fully personalised session. Your child receives undivided focus, allowing progress that is tailored precisely to their needs.
Our teaching methods draw from the finest European conservatory traditions — Seoul, Berlin, and Stockholm — brought together into one coherent, thoughtful approach.
Parents are considered partners in each child's musical journey. We maintain open communication and provide guidance for home practice and musical enrichment.
We do not teach to grade exams. We teach music for music's sake — and children flourish when freed from the anxiety of performance metrics.
Students learn works selected for their musical beauty and age-appropriateness — from Bach to contemporary Scandinavian composers.
