What This Program Offers
The moment a child first draws a bow across a string, or lets their fingers rest on piano keys — something irreversible happens. First Steps is designed to make that moment, and every moment after, exactly as it should be: joyful, purposeful, and built to last.
This is where real musical study begins. Individual lessons in cello, violin, or piano are tailored to each child's learning style and pace, with deep care given to the fundamentals that will define their playing for life. There is no rush here — only steady, meaningful progress.
Each instrument is taught with equal depth and care. The instrument is chosen in consultation with the family, taking into account the child's temperament, physical build, and natural inclinations.
Posture, bow hold, hand position — these details are not minor. They are the foundation of everything. We establish them correctly from the very first lesson, preventing habits that are difficult to undo later.
Every piece chosen is matched to the child's level and personality — from simple folk melodies to carefully graded classical works — ensuring each lesson ends with a sense of achievement and excitement.
We strongly encourage parents to attend lessons and take simple notes. A supported child progresses faster and more joyfully than one who practises alone.
The instrument closest to the human voice — warm, rich, and deeply expressive. Special attention is given to posture and bowing technique.
The instrument of brilliance and expressive range. Children begin on fractional-size violins, growing alongside their instrument.
The most complete instrument for learning music theory and practice simultaneously — an ideal foundation for any musical path.
The IJ Nordic Approach
Drawing from the Suzuki philosophy, traditional conservatory pedagogy, and Nordic educational values, this programme places equal weight on technique, expression, and the child's emotional experience of music. The director's own formation at the Royal College of Music Stockholm and Hanns Eisler Berlin informs every aspect of the curriculum.
“The goal is not perfection — it is a deep, unbreakable love for the instrument.”
— Isabella Jee, Director
